The city of Picasso

1684

A guided tour through the bohemian Barcelona of Picasso’s youth and the famous Picasso Museum.

Originally from Malaga, Pablo Picasso spent his youth in Barcelona and then lived in France for the remainder of his life. This guided tour will follow Picasso’s footsteps in Barcelona to find out where the painter lived, played and worked in Barcelona. The tour will end with a guided tour of the Museu Picasso, a key museum if you want to understand the artist’s formative years and development.

Apart from the Picasso Museum, this route will take you to such unique places as the Quatre Gats, the beer hall and cabaret where the young Picasso used to meet with Catalan modernist artists; the friezes on the façade of the Col•legi d’Arquitectes, Picasso’s only outdoor artwork; Avinyó street, a source of inspiration for Picasso from which his famous painting “Les Demoiselles d’Avignon” takes its name; and the Llotja de Mar, the art school where he studied.
