Sorolla, the sea, Modernism and Cabanyal
Sorolla depicted the light of this beach and of its inhabitants. He created his most famous paintings on this beach, inpired by the fishermen of the Cabanyal who used to work there. They were also inspiration for novelist Blasco Ibáñez. This district, independent from Valencia 120 years ago, is reputed for its heritage and still today, its architecture and modernist houses attract many people.
Protected historical area, declared Heritage of Cultural Interest in 1993.
